The days are growing shorter and the holidays growing nearer... If coffee isn't cutting it, you can also use yoga to help energize you until the holiday break finally arrives!
Have you been taking accidental naps lately? Struggling to get out of bed or make it through the day? You're not alone!
A lot of us in Oxford have a lot on. Now that the day light is limited and we're struggling to meet end of year deadlines, many of us are feeling winter/pre-holiday fatigue. One way to combat this is with exercise (vinyasa flow anyone?) - and certain yoga poses work especially well in the fight against tiredness!
Getting your heart pumping will help wake you up, so sun salutations are a good way to start! Backbends and inversions are a wonderful way to combat fatigue once you're warmed up - so open your heart and get upside down!
My favourite energizing poses are back-bending warrior ones, camel pose and wheel (make sure you're warmed up before attempting the latter two - these are intense backbends!) - but any backbend will do. I find even bending backwards over my chair can be helpful when drifting off at my computer.
Whenever I'm feeling especially tired, I pop up into a headstand to wake myself up. This can be done at a wall if you're not comfortable being upside down on your own yet. Handstands (against the wall - or not if you've got a regular handstand practice) are another super great energizing option. :)
