The craziest class I have ever taught! But we still managed a 1 minute Savasana...! Yellow Submarine are a charity that work for equal opportunities for people with learning difficulties. You'll find their cafes in Oxford and Witney, staffed by people with learning difficulties. So that's the adult side but they also do 'Multi-Sport' days in school holidays for teenagers too.
This group in Abingdon were completely wired when I came in to teach them! The most excitable group I have met, but also really really sweet too. It did not help that there was pumping music from the beat box / martial arts class from hall behind a flimsy curtain- I teach yoga to rock music at times but sometimes it can make the relaxing side challenging!! But the teens were actually surprisingly focused, we did a gymnastics inspired class and still managed to stay true to the yoga concepts through some pranayama and savasana meditation for a minute! The guy who did the class was really excellent at yoga, he followed all the breathing and really perfected his sun salutation by the end, so I'm so proud of his effort and hope he will be able to come to it on stressful days at school. We ended the class with a gleeful "Namaste" and Anna the organiser and I began plotting Yoga Quota's next visit to the Yellow Submarine sports days! -Anne
