Ok so don't get this the wrong way. Broody I am not.
However I am qualifying myself for teaching pregnancy yoga. Not that there
is much demand for that from the student population in Oxford, but
there is in the John Radcliffe and one of the mid wives there suggested I
got qualled up so here I am writing essays until 2 am, reading up on
anatomy and yes, practicing yoga with a pillow stuffed up my top.
Before and After shots below. My particular favorites being the Anne-camera-view.
I felt really silly doing yoga like this. But it was a great tester of the pregnancy class I'd designed. Even so, I'm not one of those women (although there's nothing wrong with it ladies if you were) who played being mum as a kid with a pillow stuffed down their jumper.
Until I realised I'd designed the class ALL WRONG for a pregnant woman I thought it would be a ludicrous practice because I've learnt about the major restrictions when you are pregnant even before you get a large bump restricting your every movement! The hormones that are coursing through your body limit you waaaay before the bump does from looser ligaments, unstable pelvis to reduced balance. And that's if all is well. Insane! Luckily yoga is not all about the asana hey?!
If you are pregnant and coming to Yoga Quota regular classes- please drop me a completely confidential word in my ear so we can modify subtley for you. I don't want you or bump/baby-to-be getting hurt. I won't (obviously) make the modifications at all pregnancy specific so others in the class will not have a clue. Especially in the first trimester when you're probably keeping it on the down low.
Still, Yoga Gro is a wonderful company to teach me pregnancy yoga. Inspiring ladies and the course is really stimulating! As you might imagine I did EXTENSIVE research before comitting to a course and these ladies were by far the best pregnancy teacher trainers out there in my humble opinion. I'm looking forward to bringing lots of ladies and their bumps through a really crazy time with the help of Yoga!
My sad attempt at child's pose with pillow-bump-baby. Legs.....wont.....go....further....apart....cannot....fit....bump!
