There are just so many updates to let you know about I could post after post after post but I'm just going to sum them here. Points of progress and also why I'm totally scared about the Big Issue class tomorrow!
Today!!! We've made the Yoga Quota for Banbury Boxing club a youth group ran by one of the youth workers from Oxfordshire youth so that can go ahead now! It was really wonderful to make the quota of 50 exactly at the end of one class. We were on 44 until the 6 people who came to the lunchtime flow! This satisfies me somehow. The kids are all young and enjoying venting their aggression through boxing- which is cool. But Yoga is also another good way of doing that (managing aggression not venting it!)
I've made some more contacts with charity type people who have bought month passes and also suggested tonnes of new charities for me to approach... who are now going to be called this afternoon!
A cool and hip Dutch Yoga Quotee (all the Dutch people I know are cool and hip is it a nation thing? I know about 30!) suggested lots of awesome albums for the yoga classes. I've bought one already and it went down really well last night! The band is called Glass Animals and they're an Oxford band! It's good to keep the music fresh- I could listen to Super Furry Animals for a decade but not everyone can stomach them on repeat!
The article about Yoga Quota is going to be printed on the Oxford Mail tomorrow!! EEK!
I am seriously worried none of the Big Issue Vendors will arrive or turn up tomorrow. Hannah from the Big Issue warned me that turn out is sometimes really low. As my previous blog talked about (Maslow) I do understand why that might be. But it does concern me. It would rubbish if they didn't get a chance to have a go at yoga to improve their health because, say, sales were low this week and they can't take an hour out if they take the hour out they might not get a bed to sleep in tonight.
It would be sods law that I've jinxed the turn out with a bloody newspaper article and photographer coming along from the paper- their suggestion not mine. Damn. All this progress I don't want to have a blip and a failure now. But it may happen I have to prepare myself.
I think I will do some handouts on paper for good yoga tips for when you're on the street, so that people who can't make it can still benefit. That would solve some of it I guess.
