Wow, everything is moving so fast here in Yoga Quota, I don't think I've reflected for a while. Every day I'm a-blogging, or getting lovely Yoga Quotees to share their experience (guest blogs) but the goings on? You've probably not heard about them for a bit.
Whirl winding away!
So on the charity classes. The reason for Yoga Quota's existence. I have a full full January. 3 Steppin Stones classes for the series for the Porch Steppin Stones homeless charity. The Banbury boxing class - youth. The Restore class - mental health (first of may I hope!) and the Keen Oxford class - young people with disabilities.
In terms of Quotas we are dangerously close to the end of the second board!! I have a sneaky suspicion I will be back at the framers oh so soon! The Quota we are working towards this week is Womens Refuge. I'm only in email contact at the moment, I think that this is because it is with the council worker who runs it...and she is busy. The next quota is for Made By the Masai. My friend and trustee (for the charity when it happens) Tara Gullet set this charity up. Masai warriors are coming to the UK for a visit through her. The charity sells their jewellery and 100% of their takings goes straight into the hands of the villagers. And I am teaching them yoga when they visit!
This brings me neatly onto the Charity marlarkey. So the crowd funding is not going so strongly, even though a number of you were generous. It is to fund the lawyer's time. We are at 5 % and I am so grateful for that because it paid for the first hour with the lawyer who to her credit is absolutely super efficient and produced solid advice and a process that I needed. And the crowd funding also attracted the attention of Tara who is doing the rest of it with me for free because she has been through the process. With the foundation from the lawyer I should be all set. So to embark from Sunday on the lengthy application process (3-4 months I hear)
It is a shame it will take so long (if indeed it will pass!) because in March I'm due to be on Om magazine and I want the whole structure to be ready by then. Ah well. That is good news mind, the press stuff continues to go well!
As a recap if you don't know, (daring to dream bigger) I'm setting this charity up as a franchise. There will be a Yoga Quota badge, like a mark of quality, that you can use to know if your teacher also has a quota for the number of charity classes they'll give. Exciting things afoot to kick start that, but I don't want to jinx them by telling you the details yet. This is going on though apace.
More other business. I've submitted my final modules for the Yoga Gro pregnancy course. And counting my chickens- I know- I have asked you guys to suggest names for the course in my second ever competition. The first modules went very well. I got an A+ which wasn't even an available grade! So the flexible and encouraging Yoga Gro people allowed me to submit my remaining modules at once. As long as they are at the same standard we're ok (fingers crossed etc.)
Another other business.... I'm kicking off with my first 'Wellness' event tomorrow evening. It is with my old company, and we are 'taking charge of our wellness. tonight.' good tag line - hey? I have a Pshychiatric Nurse- Stress resilience, a Physio - the laptop body, Nutrition- smoothie bikes and more fun and of course Yoga with the wonderful Cassie!
What else? That's all the positives.
The negatives was a theft from the cafe above. I've been locking up, but remember a wierd thing a couple of days ago where the fire door was open when I came in. I admit I am as dumb as hell not to have thought anything of it at the time, except that maybe James was back or one of the Baristas, I went out to the alley to look but that's it. I was dumb as hell not to have noted if anything was missing and ....well...it's done. Anyway, things are a bit frosty in the old cafe-yoga-relationship because of this. Insurance is built for this, I'm not. I felt absolutely awful today about it. Can't believe I was so dumb as to not notice until I was setting up for the Wellness Event.
Anyway, my return to Lush may be accelarated if the cafe-yoga-relations aren't improved. Pop ups. Thefts. Ups and downs and bruises.
But as a tally of positives and negatives go.... I think I'm doing ok hope you do too!
