Due to this pesky little bone 'exhibit A' and a non-yoga-caused injury I've been discovering some funky adaptations to a classic vinyasa practice to avoid the wrist. Try them! Even without injury, our wrists sometimes need a break and our egos often do....
So due to lugging my rather heavy baby around, I appear to have injured one of my little wrist bones.
But the good news is that we learn far more on our yoga journey when we are constrained by something. I learnt this keenly during my pregnancy. So if you are very inflexible, have sciliosis, missing limbs or injuries, yoga CAN STILL WORK for you*. (* for some injuries please definitely check with a Doctor first)
This is how I work a yoga practice WITHOUT using my left wrist....try it!
A whole flow avoiding wrists
Thank you Duncan Yoga on YouTube! Googling for this blog I discovered this flow. You don't always have to adapt your sequences though just adapt your poses (see my pose adaptations below). If this is your situation too- just tell the yoga teachers at Yoga Quota and they will be able to help.
Be Picky about your poses and adapt
Asana is only the tip of the iceberg
When you have to adapt your asana (your poses), it is good because it reminds you:
Let me know of any wrist avoiding tactics you may have and I'll be trying them for size! and enjoy your body as it is- injuries and limitations and all.
