It could have been the sunny day yesterday....but my regulars at the homeless class seemed a little brighter and those at Restore too (the charity for the mentally ill). At both the day centre and the charity there were new people trying yoga! When there is someone new, I make sure I labour the point about yoga being about inner peace and not about how the postures look. It's not about being analysts about knee position or arm position. It a comfortable posture and practising* the eight limbs of yoga! It still is a challenge for people to relax about that...so it's very worth the reminder. I really love that I have these fortnightly fixtures- regular yoga practice brings so much improvement. And have you googled the charities??? They are worthwhile Oxford charities. The Porch Steppin stones and Restore. The chap who I won't name who comes every fortnight to yoga and is homeless is very reliable and has been really welcoming to everyone new who tries the class. He calls me Lucy, but names are only a label anyway! And as I left from the class at Restore for the mentally ill, a regular there took genuine time to thank me for giving up my time to do the class for them. I do get thankyous, but not usually as pointed as this one. Somehow I think he really appreciated and understood the juggling I'd probably just done to get there. Which helps. So a sunny day with a little baby step towards inner peace....and this graffiti outside of the a garden Cafe of Restore serendipitously there!!! *last night my in laws were over for my mother in law's 60th birthday. And during the course of the meal I was informed slash it came up that "practice" is the noun and "practising" the verb. Uh oh. I have CERTAINLY got this wrong on numerous occasions! The in-laws are avid readers of this blog- it's so touching when I know these words go somewhere. Apologies to all you English language buffs reading! I'd encourage you to let me know my glaring errors- or I'll never learn :) and I can always fall back on the convenient excuse that Engineers write in equations if you do correct me!!!!! Bring on Saturday's hangover cure classes and Yoga Mama class! Let's hope for sunny inner peace today at the Yoga Quota studio too! Namaste
