Yoga Quota's Chloe Townsend and C4WS Homeless Project teamed up just before Christmas. C4WS are a brilliant, grass roots organisation who provide winter night shelter accommodation in London for people without homes, and also mentor, help getting homes and jobs. And now they also offer 1:1 yoga with us!
When I called Sam who runs C4WS, I got such a positive vibe from him. I'd found him through my friend from 'the old job'. She had been in contact with him because my old company were cooking Christmas dinner for them, and she had told me about how efficient and positive Sam was. How right! He grabbed the opportunity to do an afternoon of 1:1 yoga sessions. And quickly we had figured out the practicalities.
Please check out the C4WS homeless project it is here, and I really rate it. They are practical and responsive.
We fixed up Chloe to teach yoga at the centre. She was in London for a bit as a sojourn from Oxford where she is a Yoga Quota teacher. She recently joined Yoga Quota and is building experience for when she becomes a nurse.
Sam did individual feedback on Friday night with all the guests that participated and they each told him how much they loved it and were very keen to ask if we could host it again for them.
He said that "Chloe did such a brilliant job tailoring it to the very different needs of each session – and the characters of each person/people! There were complete novices who enjoyed learning something new to those who had done yoga in the past – and enjoyed the therapeutic nature of it – who were grateful for the opportunity to take it up when their circumstances have otherwise made it difficult to continue with."
So now we are plotting ways to continue working with C4WS- calling all London based yoga teachers to help!
