We were doing some really wobbly poses in Yoga Quota studio this week and they are so good for us!
Why? Well they're best when they go wrong. And you topple.
A particular wobbly favourite of mine is Ardha Chandrasana see the picture above. When we do this I guarantee at least one of us in the room (and quite possibly the yoga teacher) will have to put an emergency foot down or may even fall. Safely of course.
Last time this happened it really made me think about our egos.
Yoga is about getting beyond the niff naff and trivia of normal life, the "does my bum look big in this Lycra?" Or the whirl of emotions or thoughts (ctti vrtta). And importantly getting beyond that little or large ego inside. Then eventually noticing we're all the same- made of the same stuff- energy whatever -and finding peace in that realisation.
So when I wobble in my yoga practice, it helps me really practice getting beyond my ego and pride. Very rarely will the ego not take a little knock if you have a wobble or a fall! Smiling and shrugging it off is great practice in starting to ignore the ego. And that's why we balance in my yoga quota classes!
Let that ego land
