A journey of expansion and growth... Miranda's story...
Since I began practising yoga it has been a journey of expansion, physically and mentally as I’ve created some more internal space, but also externally – opening me up to new friends and communities. Last Saturday I was given the opportunity to expand a little further when I taught my first Yoga Quota charity class! I taught a class for Autism Family Support, a mix of young and old consisting those who are on the Aspergers or Autistic spectrum and their parents/carers.
I was a little nervous, but most of all looking forward to teaching this class! Every yoga class, as a teacher or a student, is an opportunity for growth – especially when you don’t know what to expect! I knew that someone on the Autistic spectrum would have a different relationship and conception to their body than the students I typically taught so I planned a class to be mindful of this! But most importantly I went in with an open mind, ready to meet and respond to whatever arose.
Ultimately, it was a lovely class to teach – a different mood and feel from any class I have taught before, that matched the feel of a lovely bright weekend morning. And it was a privilege and pleasure to be able to partake in the process of transforming the chalk tally chart that tots up week by week into an actual class… and I can’t wait for this Saturday when I get to expand a little more and teach a charity class again!
